Now on Display

Now on display at the Bristol Public Library is a very unusual collection of Russian samovars, belonging to Judi Sheridan of North Bloomfield. Samovars are metal containers traditionally used to heat and boil water.
Since heated water is usually used to make tea, a samovar has an attachment on the top of its lid to hold and heat a teapot filled with a tea concentrate.  The antiques on display were typically used in and around Russia, European countries, as well as the Middle East.
Mrs. Sheridan has been collecting samovars for over 50 years and has put together a colorful display that includes pieces of painted Russian woodenware.  These pieces are beautifully made and a must see to be appreciated.
The display is located on the upper level of the library and will remain through the month of May.
